Rich describes her trailer community of old people, mostly women, who have been given permission for health reasons to live year-round in a desert county park, close to a natural hot spring. From this small enclave come stories told with a thoughtfulness that is like the rarified desert air itself. The community that is forged from this very diverse population of: born-again Christians, Jews, park rangers, lesbians, and survivors, is cause for Rich to speculate on the health of our nation.
