Thursday Afternoons

by Tracey Richardson

Thursdays aren’t simply another day of the week for Amy Spencer and Ellis Hall. Thursday afternoons sizzle with no-strings sex for the two women, who meet each week in a hotel room to forget their past—and their present.

The arrangement works perfectly for Amy, a busy surgeon who’s still smarting from a failed relationship. For Ellis, Thursday afternoons act as a pressure valve from her cutthroat job and the mistakes in her personal life she’s trying to rectify.

But soon the pair discover that their outside worlds are on a collision course with the carefully constructed world they’ve created on Thursday afternoons. What will happen when they discover the truth about each other? Will their weekly assignations come to a screeching halt, or will they turn into something much, much more…

FROM THE AUTHOR

"What happens when two women get together for a casual sexual relationship of the anonymous type, only to discover weeks into their hotel hookups that they’re on a collision course in their professional lives?

In writing Thursday Afternoons, I was itching to not only morph a casual fling into a romantic relationship, but to do so against the backdrop of two professional women who end up finding themselves on opposite ends of the boardroom table. That’s the core theme of Thursday Afternoons, and setting the novel in a hospital—a place I’m comfortable writing about, thanks to my many years as a newspaper reporter covering the health beat—was the ultimate attraction for me.

What I really was striving for in this one was to strip away the professional (and often mysterious) veneer of doctors and hospital CEOs, and to show my readers that they’re ultimately just people, like all of us. An interview with a hospital CEO from my journalism days really sticks in my mind. She confided in me that both her parents had recently died of cancer. Then she looked at me and said, “You know, I just want them to be proud of me.” That’s the kind of vulnerability I tried to capture in Thursday Afternoons, and I hope readers enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed writing it."

Michelle P. - I’m a big Tracey Richardson fan so when I saw this book was coming out I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it...and I was not disappointed. The chemistry from the moment Amy and Ellis meet is off the charts. This was a fast read for me because I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Corporate Slave - I needed this—with all its angst, the connection between the characters, the amazing sex scenes! I would highly recommend this book!

Cathie W. - The sexy book description of Thursday Afternoons pulled me in, but it was content and beauty of Amy and Ellis’s story that won me over in ways I didn’t expect. I didn’t expect the complexity of their lovers to enemies story, or the subtlety of multiple forces at play nudging their struggle this way and that. The plot is intricate and complex but flows beautifully ... Coupled with their insanely hot attraction and sexy escapades this story quickly topped my read-it-again list.

Lex Kent’s Reviews - I would definitely recommend this one to romance fans, especially if you want a story that is a bit different and not so cookie-cutter. Richardson knows how to write and I’m hopeful others will enjoy this as much as I did.

Les Rêveur
A fun and sexy book that will tug at your heartstrings. The pace of the book is excellent, and at no point are you left feeling uncertain about Ellis and Amy. The chemistry between them is there in spades. I loved the way Tracey Richardson amped up the tension when everything is revealed and the chapters that follow. This made it really easy for me to connect with the story line and the characters.

The Lesbian Review
There’s no manufactured conflict here that can be resolved with a frank discussion over a cup of coffee. Ellis's and Amy’s careers have them at odds and they both have so much at stake. The side characters gave me even more reasons to become invested in the book and their plotlines are seamlessly woven together. Good stories always make you want to go back to the beginning and start again, and this is definitely one of those. It has everything from steamy, lust-filled sex, to dramatic tension and a great slow-burn romance between two amazing, beautiful women inside and out. If you’re looking for a book that gives you everything you’re craving at once, then this is positively the book for you.

Anja S. - Fantastic chemistry between the main characters. Very realistic and well-written social issues of medical services/hospitals, their roles in communities and their funding. Richardson balances these elements of the story perfectly, maintaining erotic tension between Ellis and Amy the whole way through. Thursday Afternoons is in my Best Lesfics list.

Yorkie B. - Amy Spencer and Ellis Hall meet on-line and decide to meet up for no-strings attached sex. No questions, no information shared, just physical contact that helps each other keep sane in their busy lives. That is until they find themselves connected outside the bedroom. Once they find their paths cross day to day they have difficult decisions to make, should they continue to dabble or walk away. I found this book such an easy read. Very enjoyable and the plot was interesting and different.
