Radiant

by Judy Sapphire

Blake Harrison’s star is rising. Preparing for her new museum installation, she’s trying to navigate her work, her newfound fame, and her reputation for volatility. She’s also trying to abide by her “monastic before a show” rule, and has no idea what to do about the stunning lawyer who insults her and entrances her in equal measure.

Jenny O’Toole is in a professional and romantic rut. Her career as a corporate lawyer is stifling, she’s closeted at work, and her current relationship is with Netflix and wine. She’s not looking for a new girlfriend, and if she was, she certainly wouldn’t chase an irrational, pretentious conceptual artist like Blake Harrison.

It’s dislike at first sight—but  when the artist and lawyer keep running into each other, the loathing turns to lust. As they weather Boston’s frigid winter, Blake and Jenny navigate their deepening feelings, and hope that their budding relationship can weather everything coming between them.

FROM THE AUTHOR

"I first started writing Radiant on my phone during my long, cold commute on the Boston T. I am so excited that years after opening that first iPhone "notes" file my book will be in the hands of readers! Radiant is the story of Jenny, a corporate lawyer whose life lacks passion, and Blake, an incendiary and brilliant contemporary artist on the cusp of fame. It's an enemies-to-lovers, opposites-attract romance. The story takes place during an extremely frigid Boston winter, but the museum gallery make-out sessions will warm readers right up!"

Silvia M. - The is a great debut for Judy Sapphire. It’s hard even for more experienced authors to write chemistry but Sapphire has nailed it. You can feel the attraction between Blake and Jenny as if you were in the same room. This love story is not your standard romance although it does feature a standard the enemy to lovers trope. The nonstandard part comes into how the relationship develops and evolves but I won’t give any spoilers and let you read for yourself, which I recommend. 4.5 stars from me.

Abbott F. - This book has writing that is excellent, pacing that makes reading deep into the night a delight, and a storyline that is unique.

Margaret T. - Oh, this book was fun!

I honestly was up far too late reading this book, but it was worth it. It had a really great perspective on both of the main character's lives and careers, and really did a great job of making them both lovable and understood. Sometimes finding a balance between the serious-straight laced character and the care-free one can be a bit difficult, but this book did it well.

Betty H. - The characters, both main and secondary, are interesting and easy to connect with. The story itself had me hooked from the beginning. I did wonder sometimes if these two women would ever figure out how much they really wanted and needed each other. That’s the mark of a good romance with lots of conflict. I’m quite impressed with this debut novel and will be looking for more from this author. If you love a good enemies-to-lovers tale with great characters and lots of angst, try this book.

Bonnie S. - This is Ms Sapphire’s first book and she has done a remarkable job writing a story with interesting characters following a smart plot. Simply a very nice read.

Alice G. - A "will they, won't they" love story that had me from the first chapter. A passionate artist in the bed and in her studio meets a number crunching lawyer and sparks fly in a room that reminds one of a hot summer day by the pool. Crack a window because it gets hot in there:). The legalese was enthralling and the foray into visual art was captivating. Very much enjoyed this read.
