In 1977, the US Army experiments with drilling men and women together for basic combat training continuing immediately into Law Enforcement School to see if the Women’s Army Corps can be eliminated so the branch can become one united service. It’s called One Station Unit Training (or OSUT). At the same time, something nefarious is happening in Alpha-10, the first of four companies in the experiment. Two female CID agents, Oakes (who is pulled back into service while awaiting a medical discharge) and Walker (who is taken off a permanent duty designation as a training officer), are assigned to be cycle spies, pretending to be enlisted trainees in hope of solving a mystery that involves murder, set-ups, love, honor and, ultimately, betrayal. The two undercover lieutenants navigate the usual harassment and discrimination from one of the oldest “good ‘ol boys” clubs in the world, trying to maintain their cover without revealing who they really are to their barracks mates and chain of command. It was difficult enough for women before they integrated the training, now they face more mistreatment and pressure by cadre who don’t want females in the military at all, much less in the MP Corps. Follow Oakes and Walker as they journey through three months of a trial program that appears to be set up to deliberately fail.
