A pleasant surprise and delightful read. Alex stays at the historic home of a British author while on a research fellowship. Her first meeting with Cam, a local handywoman, is uninspiring, but the spirit in the house seems determined to get them together. The supporting characters nicely round out the ensemble and as Alex and Cam find their way romantically, Alex learns an surprising fact about the author that puts a prize up for grabs by the duplicitous and seductive Rosamund. The dialogue is sprightly and the mystery is entwined with discovering love both present and past in the charming countryside. I am glad I took a chance on this story.
