This latest Dark Peak installment took the biscuit for me as far as the featured case was concerned, compared to the previous 2. This one – it just hit me in the gut because the subject matter is still so bloody relevant in the real world we live in and definitely not getting any better! Hunter’s incredible flair in detailing the case from discovery to case-building to setting up the hunt and the chase further exacerbate the dull pain and quiet doom that was brewing in dim recesses of my mind. Once again, the choice of this book’s title fits the case like a glove.
All in all, “A Quiet Death” is a MUST-READ. Heck, the ENTIRE “Dark Peak Series” is a RESOUNDING MUST-READ!!! If you love crime thrillers with a dash of lovey-dovey, cutey-pie but realistic romance between two of the most adorable, endearing, captivating characters in lesfic, you won’t be disappointed!
The Dark Peak Trilogy is now one of my favourite serials & Meg/San are one of my favourite romantic couples in fiction. I will be re-visiting the cases and the lovable couple from time to time, that’s for sure! ?

The three books in the series with Sanne Jensen & Meg Fielding are some of the best mystery/thriller books I’ve read, bar none. Cari Hunter is an exceptional writer who knows how to build interesting characters, interweave great plots, and most importantly, integrate humor and humanity into sometimes bleak situations. If you’re a fan of lesbian fiction, these are great books. If you don’t know or care about lesbian fiction, these are still great books. Highly recommended.
